What's the connection between A.R.T.S.
Anonymous, ARTSonline, and ARTS-ON-THE-NET?
A.R.T.S. Anonymous is a worldwide 12-step program based on the A.A.
model. The only requirement for membership is a desire to fulfill
one's creative potential. It is unique among 12-step programs in that
its members admit they are "powerless" over something positive
- their creativity - as opposed to something negative, like addictive
behavior. "A.R.T.S." stands
for "Artists Recovering through the Twelve Steps."

Anonymous web site.
ARTSonline is an email-based online A.R.T.S. "meeting,"
using the facilities of Yahoogroups. It is not affiliated with
A.R.T.S. Anonymous in any way, other than that it was created with A.R.T.S.
members in mind. Non-A.R.T.S. members are also welcome to
participate. Click here to see the
Yahoogroups introductory page.
ARTS-ON-THE-NET came into existence after I observed an A.R.T.S.
member showing his sketchbook around at a party. I thought it
would be great if there were some way more people could see his work.
A few days later this site was born. And, as with ARTSonline, it, too,
has no affiliation with A.R.T.S. Anonymous. The use of the word
"ARTS" in both ARTSonline and ARTS-ON-THE-NET was simply a choice
I made based on my intention to have these sites relate, in some overt way,
to A.R.T.S. Anonymous. And, as with ARTSonline, this site is aimed
primarily toward A.R.T.S. members, but is also open to other interested
parties.
How can you list the names of people in an
"anonymous" program?
Since this particular list is open to both A.R.T.S. members and "other
interested parties," there is no way to tell simply by looking who's in
A.R.T.S. and who isn't. The only way to determine if a particular
person is an A.R.T.S. member would be by contacting them directly and
asking.
Suppose I want to buy something I see on
someone's site, or I want to talk further with that artist about their
work. What's the process?
Each artist's site will provide personal contact information if they so choose. If there is no contact information you can assume that
the artist prefers to remain anonymous on a personal level, but would still
like the world to see his or her work.
I don't have my own web site but I would like to be listed
and show my artwork. Is that possible?
Yes. Just have your artwork scanned and converted to GIF or JPG files. The
resolution should be 72 dpi. Then send them to me (jaymark@nyc.rr.com)
as email attachments and I will create a page for you. Be sure to fill
out the submission form so I will have the necessary
personal information as well. (If you happen to live in the New York
City area I may be able to do the scanning for you personally if my schedule
permits. Just send me a request via email or through the Comments section
of the submission form.)
